Remembering the distressing memory of waking up one day and feeling as if her entire bedroom was entwined or knotted in black, Chiharu Shiota started working on 'room-filling', impenetrable installations made of black thread. While the actual installations arise from the artist's desire to 'draw in the air', this edition brings the memory to a more intimate scale.
